Fire in BSEC Bhaban doused

The fire broken out in the BSEC (Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation) Bhaban located in capital’s Karwan Bazar area has been doused. The fire originated from the office floor of Amar Desh at around 11.45am and rapidly spread to some floors of the building that houses several offices including television channels RTv and ntv. Being informed, 15 units of Fire Service Department rushed to the spot and doused the fire with an effort of two hours. The transmission of Rtv and ntv stopped around 12:56pm following the incident. No report of any casualty has come in so far. Television footage showed smoke belching out of the building`s top floor and firefighters frantically trying to tame the flames. The reason for the fire could not be ascertained immediately. Earlier on December 25, 2007, a fire broke out at a room on the ground floor of the building. On February 26, 2006, three people were killed and 50 others injured as a devastating fire swept through the 11-storey building.—risingbd.com
