At least five houses were gutted in separate fire incidents took place at Pahartoli and Chawk Bazar area in the port city on Saturday.
According to Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defense sources, the fire originated from an electric short-circuit from one of the houses, soon engulfed the neighbouring areas in Chawk Bazar at around 1:45pm.
Receiving information, three units of fire fighters from Chandanpura, Lama Bazar and Nandakanan fire stations rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after one hour’s frantic effort.
In another incident, a fire originated from a burner of the house and soon engulfed the neighbouring areas in Pahartoli at around 10:00am.
