The 20th floor of the 24-storied Bangladesh Development Bank Limited (BDBL) building caught fire in the city’s Dilkusha area on Monday morning.
An electric short circuit reportedly sparked the fire on the building around 6:20am.
No casualties have been reported, but the damage has been estimated for Tk 10 lakh, said Mizanur Rahman, Duty Officer of the Control Room of Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) Headquarters.
The blaze was doused by seven firefighting units in just 30 minutes, he said.
“Some unused goods and papers were burned in the fire that broke out in the storeroom,” he further said.
A probe body was formed to investigate the incident, he added.
