The final round of 46th Winter National Sports competition begins tomorrow (Monday) at Mohammadpur Govt. Physical Education College ground in the city.
Education Minister Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid is expected to inaugurate the five-day meet as chief guest, organized by secondary and higher secondary education board.
Education Secretary M Sohrab Hossain, Technical and Madrasa Education Board acting Secretary M Alamgir, Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board chairman M Mahbubur Rahman and professor Dr. SM Wahahiduzzaman Director General of Secondary and Higher Secondary Directorate will also be present on the occasion.
Some eight hundred boys’ and girls’ students will compete in the competition which included seven disciplines.
The seven disciplines are athletics, hockey, cricket, basketball, volleyball, badminton and table tennis.
The competition will conclude at country’s premier venue Bangabandhu National Stadium on January 22.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to be present on the closing day of the competition and distribute the prizes.
Education Minister Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will preside over the closing ceremony.
The champions, runners-up and third place finishers will have Taka 50,000, 40,000 and 30,000 as prize money.
Besides, daily allowance of Taka 350 will be provided to each participating player.
In this regards a press conference was held on Saturday at conference room of Bangladesh Olympic Association to provide all the details of the meet.
Professor Dr. SM Wahahiduzzaman Director General of Secondary and Higher Secondary Directorate, Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Secretary and organizing committee’s member secretary Shahidul Kabir Chowdhury and Deputy Director (physical education) and National School and Madrasa Sports Committee’s general secretary Farhana Haque were present on the occasion.
