The final round of the First Security Islami Bank National School Hockey Tournament begins today at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium.
A total of 32 teams splitting into eight groups are taking part in the hockey competition.
Marking the ensuing tournament, a press conference was held at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Friday.
Head of Marketing & Development of First Security Islami Bank Limited Azam Khan, Joint-Secretary of the Tournament Committee Rafiqul Islam Kamal, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Mamun-ar-Rashid were present at the conference.
120 Schools took part in the preliminary round. The preliminary round was held at the 11 venues across the country. 32 schools have qualified for the final round.
The champions will be awarded Tk three lakh, the runners-up will get Tk two lakh and the third-place achiever team will be given Tk one lakh.
Besides, the best goalkeeper, the best full back, the best midfielder, the best striker will be awarded Tk twenty thousand each.
The Bank will provide stipend for the players, who will be selected by Bangladesh Hockey Federation.
