Anomalies in DAE bldg: Construction firm owner held in city

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested the construction firm owner in connection with the use of bamboo sticks instead of iron rod in the construction of a DAE building in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga.
Tipped off, a team of RAB-4 arrested Moni Singh, owner of M/S Joy International Construction, from his rented flat at Battala in Mirpur Section-10 around
9:30pm on Thursday, said media officer of the RAB unit ASP Mahfuza.
Earlier, a case was filed with Damurhuda Police Station against three people, including Joy International Construction owner Moni, its consulting division director Abdus Sattar and purchase officer Ayub Hossain, in connection with the anomalies.
On April 7, the authorities concerned shut the construction work of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Plant Quarantine Wing building following an allegation that the construction was being done with bamboo sticks as an alternative to iron rod.
Later, Merina Zebun Nahar, innovation officer of the Agriculture Ministry, filed the case against the trio.
