Staff Reporter, Rangpur :
Binadhan-16 and Binadhan-18 are very profitable and important varieties of aman paddy for the people of Rangpur region. The life span of these two species of Binar Aman is very short and the cost of water and other materials is less. The lifespan of Binadhan-16 is only 90-100 days and the lifespan of Binadhan-18 is only 110-115 days whereas in the past the lifespan of different varieties of aman paddy was long up to 180-160. To increase the density of crops across the country, including the eradication of manga in North Bengal, Binar scientists have developed two varieties of Binadhan with high yielding short life span for the aman season.
Due to the long lifespan of the aman varieties of paddy in the past, farmers in different parts of the country did not get the opportunity to cultivate more than two crops a year.
But if these short-lived Binadhan-16 and Binadhan-17 Aman varieties of paddy are cultivated, the farmers of our country will get the opportunity to cultivate various winter rabi crops including potato and mustard in advance. Friday He was speaking as the chief guest at a video conference on the occasion of Field Day and Crop Harvesting with the aim of promoting and expanding the high yielding and short-lived Aman rice varieties Binadhan-16 and Binadhan-18 invented by Bina. Md. Abdur Razzak MP.
