The government distributed Taka 10,43,64,000 among 2,299 freedom fighters (FFs) as allowance in the district in the current 2013-2014 fiscal year, official sources said.
Department of Social Welfare distributed Taka about 3,000 per month as allowance to each Freedom Fighter to help him lead a better life.
Under the programme, Taka 3,16,08,000 was distributed as allowance among 878 FFs in Sadar upazila, Taka 94,32,000 to 262 FFs in Manda, Taka 81,36,000 to 226 FFs in Mahadebpur, Taka 1,56,24,000 to 434 FFs in Badalgachi and Taka 36,36,000 among 101 FFs in Niamatpur upazila.
Besides, Taka 53,28,000 was given to 148 FFs in Patnitala upazila, Taka 69,48,000 to 193 FFs in Dhamoirhat, Taka 38,52,000 to 107 FFs in Sapahar, Taka 12,60,000 to 35 FFs in Porsha, Taka 78,12,000 to 217 FFs in Atrai and Taka 1,07,28,000 was distributed among 298 FFs in Raninagar upazila.
