Freedom fighter Engineer Abul Kashem has been absconding as he was threatened to life by his son-in law, it is alleged
He was sued in five false cases in different districts filed by his son-in law Rifat Ahmed.
It is learnt that Sonia Afreen Eva, only daughter of Engineer Abul Kashem, married with Rifat Ahmed, son of Abul Khair of Sitakundo Upazila under Chittagong district on June 29 in 2012. During the marriage Rifat was unemployed and totally dependent on his father-in law. Engineer Abul Kashem regularly provided financial support to Rifat for his study and family maintenance expenses. In early 2014, Rifat demanded Tk 50 lakhs dowry to his father-in law and started tortured on Eva claiming the money for starting hundi business.
Engineer Abul Kashem denies giving money for the unlawful business to Rifat. He then becomes crazy for dowry of Tk 50 lakhs and press every day to Eva to bring the money from her father.
Eva was almost everyday physically tortured by her husband Rifat. But she regrets to give dowry. Rifat then become harder for the money soon after the retirement of Abul Kashem from government job, last year. He claims the money from the retirement benefit of Abul Kashem. In the later part of 2015, Rifat sent her wife Eva to his father-in laws’ home and threat to divorce her in case of failure of bring Tk 50 lakh. Eva then lodged a case against Rifat under the Special Act of Dowry, Child and Women Repression Act.
Rifat then started lodging false cases in different parts of the country in different charges including human trafficking. He used unknown persons as the plaintiff of the cases mentioning the names of Abul Kashem, his wife Fazilatunnesa Shova and daughter Eva. The whole family was in custody for these false cases about two months.
Among the false cases Rifat filed against his wife, father-in law and mother-in law are: Brahman Baria Case No. 03/2017 under human trafficking act with Women and Children Repression Control Tribunal, Case No. 136/2016 in Narayanganj Court, Case No. 250/2016 in Dhaka Court, Hazaribagh Thana Non FIR GR No. 111/16, Case No. 474/2016 in Dhaka Judge Court. He also filed another case in Jessore bring on the same charges by the help of some his family members.
None was sight in the Tollabagh flat in Royerbazar of the capital in the resident of Freedom Fighter Engineer Abul Kashem. The caretaker told he (Abul Kashem) is absconding for about last two months with family. While contacting over mobile phone, Abul Kashem told, “I fought proudly against Pak solders under sector number 9 of Bangladesh Freedom Fight and conquest the victory but I fail in life due to the tortured by false cases of my beloved son-in law”.
“I urge the IPG, Home Minister and Prime Minister to inquire the cases by a detective branch and urge to safe life of him with family members from the aggression of Rifat and his family.”
The mobile number of Rifat was switched off while this correspondent tried to contact him regarding the matters.
