The ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River have resumed 10 hours after suspension due to poor visibility caused by dense fog on Thursday. The ferry service started around 9 am on Thursday. Due to the fog, navigation on this route was suspended from 12:15 pm on Wednesday.
Mohiuddin Rasel, the Assistant Manager of Commerce, BIWTC, Aricha Sector, said that the fog in the Ghat area continued to increase after Wednesday evening. Later, when the fog increased in the Padma river, all types of vessels including ferries were stopped at around 12 pm to avoid accidents. The ferry service resumed at 9 am on Thursday when the fog mitigated.
Meanwhile, a large number of vehicles are waiting to cross the ghat area due to the closure of ferry services. However, on a priority basis, small private cars and long-distance buses have been arranged to cross earlier.
