A ferry, Kakoli, hit 10 no pillar of under-construction Padma Bridge on Friday (Aug 13) morning. The incident took place on Shimulia-Banglabazar route around 6.45am. Master of the ferry Kakli Mod Badal Hossain confirmed the matter.
He said he lost the control following failure of technical system and due to the strong current in the river.
But no one was injured in the incident. The ferry had a crack after the collision. However, the crack was above the water level so it did not sink, he added.
Earlier, ferries hit pillar No. 16 and 17 on 20 and 23 July and pillar No. 10 on 9 August.
