Female schoolteacher killed ‘by husband’ in Bandarban

A female schoolteacher from ethic minority community was killed by slitting throat allegedly by her husband over a family feud at Lama Bazar in Lama upazila on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Maicyaching Marma,28, wife of Thoaiching Marma, a resident of the area and also an assistant teacher of Rupasipara Government Primary School.
Police said Thoaiching Marma locked into an altercation with Maicyaching Marma over a family feud around 8:30pm.
At one stage, Thoaiching hacked Maicyaching and slit her throat.
Hearing the scream of Maicyaching, locals tried to rescue her and informed police.
Later, police recovered the body of Maicyaching and sent it to Bandarban Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Thoaiching was found tangled in electric cables as he tried to kill himself by electrocution.
He was admitted to the hospital under police custody.
Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Lama Police Station, confirmed the incident.
