A Barisal court on Monday sentenced a female drug peddler to life imprisonment.
The convicted accused was Daisy Begum, wife of Aminul Islam Harun from Natun Bazaar area of the city.
Rafiqul Islam, judge of the tribunal for preventing crime against public safety, handed down this verdict in presence of the accused after examining eight witnesses.
The court also fined the accused Tk. 10 thousand or to suffer more two months imprisonment in default.
Court sources said a team of detective branch of Barisal Metropolitan Police arrested the accused with 25 bottles of phensidyl on May 20, 2014.
Sub Inspector Ali Hussain as complainant lodged a case in this connection with Barisal Kotwali police station on the same day.
Sub Inspector Delwar Hossain of city DB of BMP submitted charge sheet against the accused on July 5 of the same year.
