The Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA) honoured country’s female athletes in a fabulous ceremony for their outstanding contribution in the country’s sports.Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, was the chief guest in the reception ceremony held on Saturday at the National Sports Council (NSC) auditorium here.Under the title of ‘indomitable women of sports’, sponsored by Unilever Bangladesh Ltd, the BSPA accorded reception to 19 gold-medalists, who brought laurels from different international events.The association also accorded a special reception to Women’s International Master Rani Hamid for her and her family’s contribution to the country’s sports.The honored athletes are Mahfuza Khatun Shila, Sobura Khatun (swimming), Maria Akter Shimanto (weightlifting), Sharmin Farzana Rumi and Shammi Akter (taekwondo), Munni Khanam, Usainu Marma and Jou Pru (karate), Eti Islam (Ushu), Sharmin Akter Rotna, Syeda Sadia Sultana, Tripti Dutta, Sharmin Akter, Lovely Chowdhury Akhi, Sabrina Sultana and Kazi Sahana Parveen (shooting), Fouzia Huda Jui (long jump), Rahima Khanam Juthi (athletes) and Rani Hamid (special honour).
