The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has taken initiative to prepare proposals for the National Budget 2018-2019 considering the emerging challenges of the world economic order. It was discussed at a meeting of the FBCCI Standing Committee relating to Ministry of Finance (internal resources division) held on Wednesday at FBCCI Board Room. President of the organization Md. Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin) was present at the meeting, said a press release.
FBCCI has started working on preparation of budget proposals for FY 2018-2019. Primary proposals on import duty, income tax and VAT will be formulated on the basis of proposals of the member bodies of FBCCI. Speakers at the meeting, discussed about conductive business environment, and to ensure infrastructural facilities for the overall economic development of the country.
The government will be able to collect the targeted revenue if favorable environment is prevailed, they mentioned. The speakers also emphasized on keeping careful watch so that the economic activities are not hampered.
The meeting discussed that the 39 Consultative Committee Meeting of NBR jointly organized by FBCCI and NBR will be held before the budget session. FBCCI will also host ‘kemon budget chai’ jointly with NTV prior to the National Budget.
Abdul Haque, Chairman of the committee presided over the meeting while AKM Shahid Reza, Director In-Charge of the committee was present. FBCCI Vice-President Md. Muntakim Ashraf also joined the meeting. Co-Chairmen and the members of the committee and also the directors of FBCCI attended the meeting.
