Early results show the panel led by Nitol-Niloy Group Chairman Abdul Matlub Ahmed is leading in the Chamber Group in biennial election of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). Professor Ali Ashraf, chairman of the election board, has declared 12 candidates of the Matlub-led panel as winners. On the other hand, four candidates of the panel led-by Chittagong Women Chambers President and the current FBCCI first Vice President Monowara Hakim Ali have been declared winners. Voting to elect directors to the FBCCI were held from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday. There are a total of 2,193 voters. Of them, 430 are from 78 chambers while 1,763 are from 355 associations. More than 95 percent of them casted their votes. The FBCCI board will be formed with 52 directors, of which 32 directors will be elected directly. The remaining 20 directors will be nominated from the country`s different chambers and associations. The election for the posts of president and two vice-presidents will be held on May 25. –risingbd.com
