FBCCI demands single digit bank loan

The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Abdul Matlub Ahmad on Thursday demanded for providing single digit bank loan to the business community for the further advancement of country’s economy.
The FBCCI President urged the central bank to reduce the existing loan rate immediately to operate business smoothly. The FBCCI President along with the board of directors made the request while participating a meeting with the Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman at the headquarter of the central bank in the city.
Matlub Ahmad stressed on the development of country’s SME sector as well as the women entrepreneurs to strengthen the economy. The business leader suggested for creating SME development fund with the involvement of district business chambers. Matlub Ahmad urged the central to take more proactive role in this regard for boosting country’s economy.
The business leader demanded for setting sector wise loan disbursement target by the banks. He requested the central bank to undertake proper action against the non-performing loans to make a healthy financial sector.
First Vice-President of FBCCI Md. Shafiul Islam urged the central bank for disbursing home loan in favor of garment workers. FBCCI Director Akhtaruzzan demanded for increasing the cash incentives for the furniture sector of the country.
The business leaders appreciated the central bank governor for getting the award of central bank governor of the year 2015. They appreciated the governor for his various contributions for the development of the country.
Addressing the meeting, Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman assured that the central bank would undertake all the necessary steps for the development of country’s business community.
The governor talked about the different initiatives of the central bank to develop country’s SME sector and the women entrepreneurs.
Talking about the reduction of loan rate, the governor said, it is depend on the inflation. ” “If we control the inflation, the loan rate will ultimately decline, so, it is a big challenge for us”, said the governor.
The central bank is sincerely working to keep the inflation within the targeted range. The governor suggested the business leaders to introduce pension for the private service holders with a view to secure their future life.
