FBCCI chief takes over BCIM-BC chairmanship

President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed has taken over the chairmanship of Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Business Council (BCIM-BC) on behalf of Bangladesh for the next two years.
Bangladesh was given the responsibility at a discussion held in China on Thursday, said FBCCI Secretary General Mir Shahabuddin Mohammad on Sunday.
Earlier, a 20-member high-level business delegation led by the FBCCI President visited China and attended BCIM (Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar) Business Forum and BCIM Business Council meeting from Tuesday last.
An agreement to set up a Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) Business Forum to strengthen cooperation in economic, trade and investment between the countries was signed by representatives of Chambers of Commerce from the four countries in February 2012.
Representatives of the FBCCI, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Confederation of India Industry (CII) and the Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry signed the deal.
