FBCCI chief shares future plans; Economic Institute one of them

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) will establish an Economic Institute for policy planning and designs, keeping Jacobs & Cordova, the global authority on policy planning and design, as a knowledge partner of the planned institute, reports UNB.
Newly elected President Sheikh Fazle Fahim shared the future plans of the apex trade body after paying homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The board of directors of the FBCCI and its president placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the city and offered munajat there.
FBCCI senior vice president Md Muntakim Ashraf, vice presidents Hasina Newaaz, Dilip Kumar Agarwala, Md Siddiqur Rahman, Nizam Uddin Ahmed and Nizamuddin Rajesh, and directors of the FBCCI, including Syed Nurul Islam, were present.
The FBCCI chief said the institute will take into account behavioral economicsapart from dealing with core economic issues.
He also said the FBCCI arbitration centre is being set up for commercial Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to help the businessmen to settle their disputes (domestic and international) with a vision to create a trade facilitation ecosystem and minimise cost and time period in dispute resolution.
The FBCCI chief shared their plan to establish “FBCCI Institute for Technical Vocation Education and Training” for having a diversified economic human resource.
He also said FBCCI International University will be established – with an emphasis on the delivery of science, technology, engineering and mathematics and creating a skill set for better addressing the interest of innovation and 4th industrial revolution necessary for our transitioning economy.
Fahim expressed his commitment to work together for the development of trade and industry of the country.
The FBCCI Board will extend their efforts for the advancement of the nation, he added.
The president, senior vice president, vice presidents and the directors took a tour to the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.
The office bearers of the apex trade body of the country took their charge on May 19 for the term 2019-2021.
