Facebook authorities have pledged to follow the legal framework and culture of Bangladesh in publishing contents.
They came up with the promise during a meeting with Tele Communication
and ICT Minister Mostafa Jabbar at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona of Spain on Tuesday.
The minister urged the FB authorities to take steps to ensure the safe use of Facebook in Bangladesh following the regulations of Bangladesh on issues of pornography, question-paper leakage, propaganda and security issues.
Reminding the country’s law, traditional culture, values, rules and regulations, the minister urged to authorities to maintain the FB contents and other issues following Bangladesh’s law.
Facebook Global Policy Solution vice-president Richard Allan and South Asian Head of Policy Ashwani Rana attended the meeting on behalf of the social media networking company.
The FB authorities highlighted their global standard in publishing contents and said the process of removing pornography from their system is underway and it will continue in the future.
Mostafa Jabbar laid emphasis on opening Facebook office in Bangladesh for solving any content-related problem quickly.
The minister also requested them for correct translation and implementation of Bangla Language in Facebook. If Facebook needs any help in achieving this capability, the government will provide all sorts of cooperation, he said.
Richard Allan informed the minister that his proposals, including the one of Bangla Language issue, will be considered with due importance.
