At least three persons, including father and son, were burned in a fire that broke out from gas leakage in the city’s Gonokotoli area under Hazaribagh Thana on Friday noon.
At least three persons, including father and son, were burned in a fire that broke out from gas leakage in the city’s Gonokotoli area under Hazaribagh Thana on Friday noon.
Victims have been identified as the hotel owner Md Shahid, 40, his father Md Joynal Abedin, 65, and hotel staff Md Sajeeb, 22.
Local sources said that gas started to emit from gas cylinder as its pipe got loosen while cooking in the hotel. When the trio tried to fix the pipe, they suddenly caught fire at 12:30pm.
Seeing it, locals rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Three people, including father and son, were injured. The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Quoting doctors, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Abdul Khan of DMCH outpost told the matter to the media that Shahid, owner of the hotel, suffered 40 percent burnt while Joynal 65 percent and Sajeeb eight percent.
