A man killed his daughter being fed up with her daughter’s immoral activities in Pirgacha of Rangpur.
On Tuesday, father Rafiqul Islam confessed in the court that he had killed his daughter.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (C-Circle) of Rangpur Ashraful Alam Palash confirmed the matter to the media.
ASP Ashraful Alam Palash said that Rafiqul married his daughter to a youth who worked in the police with many dreams. But the marriage did not last because of his daughter. After coming to the father’s house, the girl got involved in drug dealing and anti-social activities. Arbitration meetings were held several times in the village. At one point he forcibly sent her to work in a garment factory in Savar, Dhaka.
Father Rafiqul Islam came to know that his daughter was pregnant when he came home during the last Eid holiday. He became angry with the girl for fear of public shame. Because of that, on July 22, around 1 am, the father strangled her to death by stepping on her neck while she was sleeping. Later, the girl’s body was buried in the land next to the house. But after two days the body was shifted to another place and buried.
The body was recovered as unidentified from Taluk Ishad Nayatari village of Pirgacha Upazila of Rangpur on July 25. According to the police, on the morning of July 25, the locals got suspicious after seeing a mound of earth near an electric pole on a flat land in Nayatari area. Eager people dug up the soil and found the head of an unidentified woman. Police went to the spot after receiving the news and recovered the body from the ground and took it to the police station.
