Father, 3 sons killed in Mymensingh

A man along with his followers allegedly chopped his brother and three nephews to death over a land dispute at Bashati village in Nandail upazila on Friday night. The deceased were identified as Belal Uddin, 50, and his three sons, Farid, 25, and Himel, 14, and Pavel,10, of the village. Officer-in-charge of Nandail Police Station Syed Abdullah said the two brothers — Belal and Lal Miah – had long been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land. Friday’s trouble erupted following an altercation between Belal and Lal Miah over the issue around 10:30pm. At one stage, Lal Miah along with his associates attacked Belal and chopped him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot. They also chopped Belal’s three sons – Farid, Pavel and Himel — as they tried to save their father, killing them on the spot. On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy. –Mymensingh, July 3 (UNB)
