Fatal push from the bus by helper

A man was pushed off the bus and killed following an altercation with its staff over fare in Gazipur on Sunday.
The incident took place at Bagherbazar area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway under Gazipur sadar upazila around 10:15am.
The deceased was identified as Salauddin, 36, son of late Shahab Uddin of the capital’s Alu Bazar area.
He used to work as a driver of local factory and lived there with family.
Delwar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mawna Highway Police Station, confirmed the news.
He said, “Salauddin along with his wife was returning from Phulpur of Mymensingh by a bus of Alam Asia Paribahan. Identifying himself as a driver, he requested helper of the bus to charge fare a little bit less Bu the helper refused, at one stage they locked into altercation. Later, Salauddin paid the total fare. At that time, bus conductor and helper threatened him to show honour with a befitting manner when it reached Bagherbazar. Then, Salauddin informed the matter to his brother Jamal Uddin over mobile phone in fear of misconduct by the staff.
When the bus reached Bagherbazar, bus staff pushed Salauddin from the bus and drove it. Salauddin stood in front of the bus and asked to stop it as his wife was still in. But the driver drove the bus recklessly and ran over, killing him on the spot, he added.
Later, Salauddin’s wife was also pushed from the bus at Amtola , he said.
He said, “Driver and his two staff fled after.”
The bus was seized and the body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
Filing a case in this connection was under process till the report was filed, he concluded.
