The farmers of Gafargaon are expecting bumper Aman production this year. Golden rice with glaze of golden-green is glittering in the fields at Gafargaon Upazila under Mymensingh.
The smell of Aman rice is spreading. The fields are filled with Aman paddy. The farmers expect that the target of rice production will be achieved if the natural calamity does not occur.
The harvesting of paddy will start this week . Gafargaon Upazila is one of the rice production areas out of 13 Upazila in Mymensingh District.
Agriculture Office sources said, Aman rice has been cultivated on 23 thousands hectares of land under pourosava and 15 unions of this Upazila this season.
In the meantime , half-ripe paddy of many lands are dangling movement. Some paddy fields are attacked with diseases but it has come under control by using pesticides . Fields of Uthuri, pourosava, Sipan villages are filled with Aman rice. the farmers informed, the harvesting of Aman paddy will begin in full swing everywhere in this Upazila.
Farmers informed, they always think of attacking insects in their fields like last year. But the suggestion of the Agriculture offic e they are now passing ths attack of insects. So, they are reaping the paddy and some are waiting for to take paddy in their homes.
Farmers Abdul Hye of Charipara village informed , he has cultivated paddy on his 20 acres of land. farmer Farid Mia of Barobaria village , farmer Ramjan Ali of Bagber village , and Lutfur rahman, farmer of Kodom Rasulpur , farmer Mahbubul Alam of Rasulpur village informed that bumper production will be achieved if there will be no natural calamity.
Gafargaon Upazila Agriculture Officer Muhammad Nasir Uddin said, paddy harvesting ceremony will be observed before “Agrahayon’ . The farmers have cultivated advanced types of rice to remove the want of Ashwin and Kartik. we are working for better production of Aman in field level and supply of pesticides among farmers. We hope that bumper production of Aman paddy like last season.

4153 tonnes of Aman paddy to be procured in Narsingdi
Narsingdi Correspondent adds: The government has set a target to procure 4153 tonnes of Aman paddy directly from the farmers during the current Aman season here.
The district food control office sources said the procurement of Aman paddy in the district started on November 20 and it will continue till 28 February.
They said the paddy is being procured at Tk 26 per kilogram to benefit farmers as the present market price of paddy is Tk 18 to 20 per kilogram.
The upazila-wise paddy procurement target is – 332 tonnes in Sader upazila, 369 in Polash, 989 in Shibpur, 1062 in Monohardi, 592 in Belabo and 809 tonnes in Raipura upazila.
