UNB, Gopalganj :
A farmer was stabbed to death by his rivals at Gobinodopur village in Muksudpur upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Ilias Munshi, a resident of the village.
Md Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Muksudpur Police Station, said there had been a long standing dispute between Farid Munshi and Engineer Ali Azam over establishing supremacy in the village. Six months ago, Ilias, a supporter of Farid Munshi, filed a case against the supporters of Ali Azam as they beat up Ilias.
Following previous enmity, the supporters of Farid stabbed Ilias mercilessly while he was returning from his uncle’s house at the same village around 9:30pm, leaving critically injured.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Gopalganj General Hospital for autopsy.
Police detained Omar Kazi, and Muktar Kazi for interrogation.
