Farmer killed in Magura over land dispute

A farmer was killed allegedly by his nephews over a land dispute at Raipur village of Mohammadpur upazila in Magura district on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Quddus Mollah, 60. Tarak Nath Biswas, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur police station, said there was a dispute between Quddus Mollah and his two nephews over a piece of land.
Earlier, he was attacked by his nephews on May 6 for not allowing them to pluck litchis from a tree which was planted on the disputed land. Later, on Friday, five or six people came to the Quddus’s house along with his two nephews Musa and Ibrahim and attacked him.
At one stage, he was beaten with a hammer ,leaving him seriously injured.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died on Saturday afternoon.
A case was filed with Mohammadpur Police Station in this connection. Investigation is underway, said the OC.
