A farmer was killed by a lightning strike at Natunchar village in Baliakandi upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Khalek Sheikh,55, son of Abdull Wahed of the village.
Police and witnesses said a streak of lightning hit Khalek in the afternoon when he was working in a paddy field, leaving him dead on the spot.
Officer-in-charge of Baliakandi Police Station Jahidul Islam confirmed the incident.
