Professor of Physics department Farid Ahmed and Professor of Philosophy department Kamrul Ahsan were elected President and General Secretary of Jahangirnagar University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) respectively from ‘Shadharan Shikkhak Forum’ panel. The election was held at JU Teachers’ Club on the campus here on Wednesday from 9 am to 1 pm.
The teachers from two panels — “Shadharan Shikkhak Forum” of JU Pro-Awami League backed teachers and Pro- Bangladesh Nationalist’s Party (BNP) teachers and the other panel “Muktijoddho O Progotibadi Chetonay Bisshasi Jote” and “Shatanra Shikkhakder Sommilito Panel” contested in the polls. “Shadharan Shikkhak Forum” bagged all the posts out of 15. Election commissioner Associate Professor Akter Mahmud Announced the result at 5 pm at JU Teachers’ Club. Others executive members are— Vice-President Professor Faruq Ahmed of Mathematics department, Joint Secretary Associate Professor Abu Sayed Md. Mustafizur Rahman of Computer Science and Engineering department and Treasurer Professor Kawshik Shaha of Chemistry department.
The executive members are– – Professor Ajit Kumar Mazumder of Statistics department, Professor Farjana Islam of Anthropology department, Professor Mahbub Kabir of Chemistry department, Professor Saleh Ahmmad Khan of Botany department, Professor Lutfar Rahman of Drama and Dramatics department, Professor Md. Shahedur Rashid of Geography and Environment department, Associate Professor Md. Nurul Islam of Geography and Environment department, Associate Professor Kabirul Bashar of Zoology department, Assistant Professor Md. Khalid Quddus and Assistant Professor Masuda Perveen of History department.
