He is Farid Ali. Though he is familiarly known to all as a film comedian he is also a freedom fighter and journalist too. The 73-year old Farid Ali still wants to acting.
A resident of Thatari Bazar of old Dhaka Farid Ali is now sick. But he is still lively in front of the camera. For this reason, in last Eid, he acted in Amzad Hossain’s play titled Purnimar Chand-ey Megh. But when he last acted in movie he can’t recall his memory.
A believer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman he called Farid Ali as Challi Foru. When anybody calls him by this name he feels good.
Though he wanted to appear in the SSC examination in 1956, he couldn’t take part.
Late Ashish Kumar Louho, Jalil and Farid Ali were Triratna (three jewels) of Bangladesh Television’s first comedy play Triratna.
Basically under the direction of Salauddin Farid Ali started his film career by movie Dharapat, which story was written by Amzad Hossain. He became popular to act in role of Byanga in the movie.
Later he acted in many movies like Sangam, Obhishap, Poroshmoni, Gunda, Rongbaj, Soptodinga, Jey Agun-ey Puri, Titas Ekti Nodir Naam, Jaliyat, Palonko, Odhikar, Gopalbhar, Torulata, Ghuddi, Lagam, Kolmilata, Bhagyalipi, Shadhona, etc.
Farid Ali said, “In our film industry, talented directors like Amzad Hossain will never come again. Razzak and Kobori are our pride in the film industry. This type of successful pair will not be seen in the industry. I am lucky that I got the opportunity to work under the direction of talented director like Amzad Hossain and popular pair Razzak-Kobori in movies.”
In his acting career, Farid Ali most of the time acted with Razzak and Kobori.
Among three brothers and one sister Farid Ali is the youngest one. He is grateful to Faridur Reza Sagor because for the last 12 years Sagor has been contributing financial support under a specific amount of money to Farid Ali.
BTV’s fourth play Nobojonmo was written by Farid Ali. But his written most significant play was Kingkortobbyo Bimur.
It may be mentioned that Farid Ali tied the nuptial knot with Monwara Begum Beauty on August 20 in 1975. He is a proud father of four sons and one daughter.
