Farhana set to be elected BNP MP from reserved seat

BNP leader Barrister Rumeen Farhana on Monday submitted her nomination paper for the party’s reserved seat for women in the Parliament.
Barrister Rumeen Farhana, Assistant International Affairs Secretary of the party, submitted her nomination paper to the Election Commission (EC) in the afternoon.
Monday was the last day for BNP to file nomination for the reserved seat for women.
The reserved seats for women are allocated among the political parties according to their number of seats in parliament.
In such, Awami League got 43 seats, four Jatiya Party, one each to BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront, Workers’ Party and independent candidates.
The BNP and its ally Gonoforum rejected the vote results soon after the 11thh Parliamentary election held on December 30 last year.
But Later BNP policy makers decided to join the Parliament. Five of the party’s MPs took oath in Parliament on April 29, the last day for taking oath except the party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who has also been elected MP.
