Lowly rated Farashganj Sporting Club snatched an important point from former champions Abahani Limited as the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier Football League match between them ended in a goal-less draw at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Monday.
With the day’s frustrating draw, the popular sky-yellow Dhanmondi outfit Abahani remained at 4th slot in the league table securing 14 points from eight matches while Farashganj SC was in 9th place with four points, also playing eight matches.
In the day’s match, Abahani managed a good chance to take lead in the 63rd minute by their winger Abdul Baten Komol failed to place the ball home, off a Shakil pass.
Ghanaian forward Osi Morrison made a good attempt toward the target in the 65th minute Farashganj goalie Sujan Chowdhury saved his castle brilliantly deprived Abahani from a goal.
After two fruitless attempts by Abahani, Farashganj SC made some good attempts in the Abahani territory, but failed to take any result.
Midfielder Nazmul Islam Rasel of Farashganj made a good shot in the 67th minute but Abahani goalie Ziaur Rahman foiled the attempt diving to his left.
In the 75th minute, forward Towhidul Alam saw his shot hit the crosspiece from the left of the box.
In the 79th minute, a placing shot of Farashganj medio Nazmul Islam Rasel was nicely saved by Abahani custodian Ziaur Rahman .
