FAO Director General visits BARI

Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Dr. Qu Dongyu has visited the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) today (Saturday, March 12, 2022). Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, MP, FAO Assistant Director General Jung-Jin Kim, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Mr. Md. Sayedul Islam, FAO Bangladesh Representative Mr. Robert D. Simpson were present on the occasion.
BARI Director General Dr. Debasish Sarker welcomed the delegation at the time of their arrival in the institute. After that, FAO Director General Dr. Qu Dongyu and Hon’ble Agriculture Minister Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, MP, wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of the BARI Headquarter. Later, the guests planted three BARI invented fruit saplings in honor of the Mujib centenary in front of the BARI Headquarter. FAO Director General Qu Dongyu planted BARI Batabilebu-5, Hon’ble Agriculture Minister Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, MP, planted BARI Aam-4 and Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Mr. Md. Sayedul Islam planted BARI Kathal-3 variety. The guests then visited the exhibition stall of various technologies invented by BARI at the premises of the Kazi Badruddoza Auditorium of the Institute. The exhibition showcases technologies related to food and nutrition, safe food, agricultural research and development, food processing, agricultural mechanization, hydroponic technology, flower and publication and SACP.
