Staff Reporter :
Families of the suspected militant couple, killed during a drive in Sitakunda of Chittagong, have declined to take their bodies.
They also refused to take the body of their child who was also killed on that day.
The militants’ deceased were identified as Kamal Hossain and Jubaida Yasmeen, and their child, our local correspondent reports.
Meanwhile, Kamal’s father Mozaffar Ahmed and Jubaida’s father Nurul Alam identified them at Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue on Monday.
Kamal Hossain was a farmer of Uttar Baisari Jauthokhamar of Naikhangchhari in Bandarban district, the father claimed.
Kamal along with his wife left house for Eidgah of Cox’s Bazar 10 months ago, he said.
Jubaida’s Nurul Alam also went to the hospital with Mozaffar.
Talking to media, Mazaffar Ahmed said, “I did never imagine that my son had involved in such incident. I won’t take the body as I hate him.” I urge Anjuman Mofidul Islam (a charitable organisation which buries unidentified bodies) to bury the bodies.”
Echoing Ahmed, Nurul Alam also said that he was unwilling to take the body of their seven-month old child.
Five persons, including the couple and their child were killed in a suicidal blast and police firing during a drive at a house in Premtala Chowdhurypara area of Sitakunda in the morning on March 16.
