Ahmed Reza Farooqi, son of slain media personality Maulana Nurul Islam Farooqi, claimed that extremists might have hands with the killing of his father.
“It is totally false and misleading information that the family members of Farooqi killed him,” Reza said.
Ahmed Reza disclosed these on behalf of the family at a press conference in their residence in the city’s East Razabazar on Wednesday. Farooqi’s two wives and two daughters were present.
Different media and newspapers have been publishing fabricated news for the last few days and trying to obstruct the investigation, aiming at protecting the perpetrators, Ahmed Reza said.
He further said that his father became the enemy of the extremists as he was outspoken over the topics of terrorism and extremism in the light of Islam.
He added that his father never compromised with others on the fundamental issues of the Holy Quran and the Hadith.
Maulana Nurul Islam Farooqi, Vice President of Bangladesh Islamic Front (BIF) and presenter of a documentary titled ‘Kafela,’ based on historic sites of Islam on Channel i, was killed at his East Rajabazar flat in the evening on August 27.
