Fakhrul`s HC bail challenged, hearing Nov 30

UNB, Dhaka :The government on Thursday filed a petition with the Supreme Court challenging a High Court order granting three months’ bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three arson cases.After primary hearing of the petition, Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foez Siddique sent it to the regular bench of the division fixing November 30 for next hearing.Khandkar Mahbub Hossain stood for the BNP leader during the hearing while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam argued for the state.The HC on Tuesday granted the three months’ bail to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on health grounds in the three arson cases filed with Paltan Police Station.On November 3, Fakhrul was sent to jail again after he surrendered before a court in the three arson cases.On November 2, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court asked Mirza Fakhrul to surrender to a lower court turning down his bail petition seeking extension of the deadline for his surrender in the three cases.
