Cop killing case: Fakhrul’s bail period extended

A Dhaka court yesterday (Tuesday) extended the bail period of BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to September 4 in two cases filed with Ramna Police Station of the capital.
The BNP Acting Secretary General appeared in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka in the morning and his lawyers moved petitions, seeking extension of his bail period, while Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan granted the petitions after hearing.
The petitions were submitted on behalf of BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Joint-Secretary General
Amanullah Aman and Member-Secretary Abdus Salam. The court issued arrest warrant against Juba Dal Organising Secretary Ruhul Quddus Dulu, as no step was taken on his behalf.
Police filed a case against some BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul, with Ramna Police Station on charge of burning alive Constable Ferdous Khalil on December 24 last year. Besides, another case was filed with Ramna Police Station in connection with an arson attack on a bus in the city’s Malibagh area that also left a man dead and four people injured on December 1 last year.
