Fakhrul shifted to in Gazipur prison

BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who is in jail on charges of instigating violence, has been shifted to a prison in Gazipur.
The prison van carrying him left the Dhaka Central Jail around 9:30 am on Wednesday, Senior Jail Superintendent Md Jahangir Kabir told bdnews24.com.
Authorities at the Dhaka Central Jail -1 at Gazipur’s Kashimpur said the BNP leader was handed over to them around 12:30pm.
The senior BNP leader surrendered to a trial court on Tuesday, which denied him bail and sent him to prison in three cases of violence.
Mirza Fakhrul was in jail since January this year until his release in July after securing an interim bail on medical grounds.
The BNP acting secretary general landed in jail again following a Supreme Court order on Monday which told him to surrender in court by Tuesday.
