A mobile court awarded two years imprisonment to a fake doctor and also fined him and his accomplice Tk one lakh each in the city’s Rampura area on Monday. The convicted persons have been identified as Abdul Quaiyum, 30, and Md Mukhlesur Rahman, 45.
Rapid Action Battalions’ (Rab-3) Executive Magistrate AHM Anwar Pasha passed the order after arresting them from the ‘Heroshaky Pharmacy’, sources said.
RAB sources said that a special team of the elite force conducted the drive and found that Abdul Quaiyum was writing prescription for a female
patient although he is not a physician. He had long been cheating with the patients in the pharmacy.
The court jailed him for violating the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) Act, they said.
Another sources said that, during preliminary interrogation, Abdul Qaiyum said that he got himself admitted to MBBS course in a private university and managed the certificate without attending classes.
They added that the pharmacy owner Mukhlesur Rahman used to send for Abdul Quaiyum when any patient came to his pharmacy. He also used to introduce Quiym as a women and child specialist doctor.
