30 more female workers returned in February with tears in eyes and sign of scare from Saudi Arabian.
Sources confirmed their arrival by a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka from Riyadh.
Officials from the Expatriates’ Welfare Desk at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport said, “The female workers were tortured in Saudi Arabia where they went as housemaids.”
“Before boarding the plane, the workers took shelter at safe home run by the Bangladesh Embassy in the kingdom,” the officials said. According to the Expatriates’ Welfare Desk, about 200 housemaids came back home from KSA in February alone, 182 others did it in January.
More than 1,500 women returned from Saudi Arabia last year.
About 5,000 female Bangladeshi workers in total returned from Saudi Arabia since 2015 due to physical and mental tortures and wage irregularities.
