Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) last night arrested a fake army major from in front of Polwel market in the city.
The arrested was identified as Mohammad Sazzad Hossain, 28, son of Md Golam Hossain, village Bagdob under Monirampur police station of Jessore district, said a press release.
RAB said Sazzad extracted money from many people in the name of giving jobs. He introduced himself an army major and sometimes RAB or DGFI official.
Five copies of passport-size photographs decorated with “captain-rank”, an army gown, three visas and four mobile phone sets were also recovered from his possession.
A case was lodged under Paltan Model Police Station in this connection.
