‘Fair price of fertilizer to ensure’

There is no shortage of fertilizers in the country there is a huge stock of fertilizers compared to the demand the Fertilizer and seed monitoring committee meeting sources said. The government will ensure sale of fertilizers to the farmers at fixed prices and with ripe receipts. Failure to have a price list in front of the shop will result in jail and fines. A class of unscrupulous businessmen and dealers are trying to create an artificial crisis of fertilizer to tarnish the image of the government. Fertilizer business should be done with a service perspective in the current situation. Zero tolerance policy will be adopted against those selling adulterated fertilizers and pesticides undermining the interests of agriculture and farmers.

 This is how the speakers expressed their reaction at the Fertilizer and Seed Monitoring Committee meeting in Ishwardi at Upazila Parishad auditorium on Thursday (August 25). UNO PM Imrul Kayes presided over the meeting. The chief guest was Upazila Chairman freedom fighter Alhaj Naib Ali Biswas. Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Khan was the special guest. Upazila Agriculture Officer Mita Sarkar is the secretary of the committee.
 President of Press Club Prof. Swapan Kumar Kundu, joint convenor of Krishak League Murad Malitha, national medalist farmer Siddiqur Rahman Moize, dealer Shafiul Alam Biswas, Feroz Parvez Ranju, Shamsul Alam Biswas and others spoke. 20 BCIC, 11 BADC and 21 retail dealers and committee members were present in the meeting.
