FIDE Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Bangladesh finished fifth in the Telegraph School Chess Competition at Kolkata in West Bengal, India on Thursday.
Fahad Rahman and five players earned seven and half points each from their respective nine matches. Later, Fahad Rahman became fifth in the tie-breaking system. Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Bangladesh finished 15th gaining six and half points from nine matches.
Sreejit Paul of India became unbeaten champion with eight and half points from nine matches.
Meanwhile, Manan Reza Neer of Bangladesh emerged as the champion of the Under-Eight years group.
In the ninth and last round matches on Thursday, Fahad Rahman beat Nilash Shaha of India, Tahsin drew with Sounak Majumder of India and Neer drew with Mayus Chatterjee of India.
