Factional clash in Jubo Dal injures 3

Three people were injured in a clash between two factions of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal during a rally organized to celebrate the 41st founding anniversary of BNP in front of its party office in the city’s Kajir Dewri area on Sunday.
The injured have been identified as Zillur Rahman Jewel, publicity and publications secretary of Mahanagar Jubo Dal, Humayun Ahmed Babu and Shah Alam, activists of the party. Among them, Jewel is being treated at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Md Jamal, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said two factions of Jubo Dal engaged in a clash around 6pm during the founding anniversary rally of BNP in front of Nasiman Bhaban of the area. They threw chairs and vandalized some accessories, leaving three people injured.
Although police members were deployed at the spot, they played no role during the clash, added the OC.
Mosharraf Hossain Dipti, president of the youth front’s Chattogram metropolitan unit, said around 50 people attacked his followers when they were chanting slogans at the rally. He described the attackers as outsiders.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Shahed, general secretary of metropolitan unit Jubo Dal, said the attackers have no involvement with Jubo Dal.
“I do not know why they brought about the attack”, he added.
