Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia on Saturday said that law enforcers would provide extra security for Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and four other Election Commissioners in their offices and other parts of the city ahead of the 11th National Parliament Election.
They will ensure massive security ins and outs of the Nirbachon Bhaban and other offices in the capital.
The DMP Chief gave the assurance as per instruction of the CEC KM Nurul Huda during a discussion over the security situation ahead of polls schedule announcement at the Nirbachon Bhaban in the city’s Agargaon on Saturday.
The EC Secretary Helal Uddin and a seven-member team of top police officials led by the DMP Chief attended the meeting.
DMP Commissioner refrained from interacting with the media after the meeting while EC secretary briefed the journalists.
Helal Uddin said, “The DMP Chief was here to discuss security arrangements for Election Commission offices, CEC and other Commissioners and post polls schedule announcement security situation.”
He said that the intensifying of the security measures ahead of National election is a common phenomenon.
A meeting between DMP and EC is customary ahead of National Polls as part of assessing security situation before beefing up the security measures, added the Secretary.
