Extensive Boro cultivation programme in C’nawabganj

An extensive Boro paddy cultivation programme has been taken in Chapainawabganj district for the upcoming season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said, a total of 47,281 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation programme in all five upazilas of the district with a production target of 183,267 tonnes of rice during the season.
Of the total, 11,545 hectares are in Sadar Upazila, 8,958 hectares in Shibganj Upazila, 14,293 hectares in Gomostapur Upazila, 7,020 hectares in Nachole Upazila and 5,465 hectares in Bholahat Upazila, the sources said.
The DAE further added that planting of seedlings would start at the end of the first week of January and continue till March 16 of the next year.
Meanwhile, farmers of the district have prepared seed beds for planting of Boro. There is no shortage of high yielding varieties of Boro seeds, fertilizer and pesticides in the district, the DAE sources added.
