Director of Export Promotion Bureau, Chittgong Md. Alamgir Siddiqui hoped for fulfillment of export target of current fiscal though it was not fulfilled in last fiscal .He disclosed it while addressing a seminar on Bangladesh Export Code at EPB conference hall in Chittagong on Monday.
Under the national export training programs, EPB arranged the seminar on Harmonised System code of export . 55 representatives from different govt offices, nationalized bodies, bank insurance and exporters participated the seminar. Director of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce Md. Mahfuzul Hoque Shah graced the occasion as Chief Guest presided by the Director of EPB , Chittagong Alamgir Siddiqui.
Director of EPB, Dhaka Abdul Moin also addressed the seminar as resource person.
The seminar was told that in 2014-15 fiscal export earnings was 31.20 billion US dollars out of the target of 33.20 billion US $ but the target of the current fiscal fixed at 33.50 billions $ and the total earning in first quarter of the current fiscal was 7,695 US dollars which is 83% more than the corresponding period of last fiscal. He said if this trend of export earnings continued, the target of current fiscal will be fulfilled easily.
The chief guest of the seminar Mahfuzul Hoque Shah said there is no alternatives of export trade for economic development of the country, so the quality of export items should be maintained and should evolve new products for exports.
He further said we should take initiatives for expansion of export to our neighbourhood India and China .
He mentioned high interest r ate of Bank loan obstruct the investment and exports , so it is very much essential to minimize the interest rate of Bank, sources added.
