Its has been said in the news that Muhamad Ali, a farmer of Chandapur village under Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi has become successful though betel leaf farming.
As first, betel leaf grower in his locality, Ali earned fame as a successful farmer in the region.
His three sons extended support to his works earnestly. By dint of his hardworking and relentless efforts towards the betel leaf farming, Ali built concrete house for the first time in the aria. Witnessing his success many of his neighbours become inspired and established betel leaf farming and they are now doing well. Mohanpur, Paba, few locality of tenor is being farmed without Bagmara.
Bagmara’s betel leaf internal demand is very high, different part of the region including Bogra, Rangpur, Dinajpur and capital city Dhaka. It is sold different local market like Atria, Taherpur, Mohangonj, Mollaparahat and Aloknagor. At present, has become a big market for betel leaf; many wholesalers and retailers come to the market from different arias to purchase betel leaf. Only betel leaf selling this aria is famous of the country.
For the time being, betel leaf is being farmed around 2,000 hectares in the district and producing around 35,ooo metric tons of crops valued at around Tk 90 crore annually and over 25,000 farmers are involved. So we can say that, it is a undoubtedly money-earning crops and its perimeter is not pimping.
Bagmara’s betel leaf is also being exported to different Middle East countries and it has become very much popular in Saudi Arabia. It is heard that it’s going London from many
