Export earnings decline

Bangladesh’s export earnings have declined by 10.70 per cent to $3.05 billion in November this year compared with the corresponding month of last year.
The fall is mainly driven by a negative growth in the apparel shipments.
The apparel sector, which accounts for 84 per cent of total exports, witnessed a 7.74 per cent decline to $13.08 billion in the first four months of the current fiscal year, which was $14.18 billion in the same period last year.
As per the data, knitwear products earned $6.8billion, down by 6.79 per cent, which was $7.30 billion the previous year.
Woven garments fetched $6.28 billion, posting an 8.74 per cent fall during the period under review.
However, the overall export earnings during July-November period of the current fiscal stood at $15.78 billion, which is 7.59 per cent down compared to $17.07 billion earned during the same period last year.
