Welcoming the government’s decision to divide the country into three zones as per the situations of coronavirus spreading public health experts stressed on to take right strategies in these regards so that it will be fruitful.
“It is appreciated that the Health Minister finally announced that they are to divide the country into three zones namely ‘red’, ‘yellow’ and ‘green’ to repel the coronavirus outbreak situations though it is too late. But it is high time to take appropriate strategies to make the decision successful,” Professor Dr. M. Muzaherul Huq, former Advisor of World Health Organisation (WHO) told The New Nation on Wednesday.
He said separate strategies for the different zones are required.
Professor Muzaherul Huq said government must have to give importance to red zone to contain the spread of coronavirus fast.
The government must arrange coronavirus test everywhere to identify the infected people as soon as possible.
The infected people should be sent to isolation soon after they have been identified.
And those people who become contacted with the coronavirus must be sent to institutional quarantine without delaying any more.
The human health expert said that the red zone will be announced as complete lockdown zone and it to be maintained strictly.
In the case of yellow zone, the eminent human health expert said that the district Civil Surgeon should decide strategies under his jurisdictions.
Some areas of this zone are to be allowed for normal social and financial activities where the contamination of the virus is lower than other areas.
But which areas where the infected people are more, those areas should be kept under strict lockdown.
The areas of yellow zone is different comparatively from red or green zone, the expert said.
While red zone is to be kept under strict shutdown and the green zone to be kept under normal condition.
Every economic and social activities should be allowed in green zone and should be kept under full time surveillance watch, so that the people of the area could not get contact with the red or yellow zones.
“If the people come under contact of contaminated areas ones then the risk of infection will be increased,” he said.
Besides, the experts are also worried about the current lifting shutdown situation.
“Unaware people think while the government has lifted the shutdown the risk of virus infection has also gone. So that most of the people are now seen violating social distancing and other safety measures seriously,” Dr. Salah Uddin Mollah, Consultant of the Corona Team of Central Police Hospital Dhaka, told The New Nation on Wednesday. He said the government should take further strict action to compel the unconscious people to follow the safety rules and directions outlined by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
“Whenever you go to kitchen markets, you must seen that the customers and sellers are violating social distancing hazardously,” Dr. Salah Uddin Mollah said.
He said the similar situation you must find in case of public transportations.
“Passengers are in competition to get first into the public buses. It poses serious risk of infection of the virus,” the human health expert said.
Dr. Salah Uddin Mollah said, the law enforcers should be more alert as the infection rate are increasing day by day.
